Andrew Cooney
Andrew Cooney has been fascinated with music from an early age. His grandmother was a jazz piano player and a piano teacher, and from four to five years old, he would sit on her lap and learn the basics of the piano. He continued with piano lessons as he grew up, and he picked up multiple other instruments along the way, including the saxophone, the guitar, and what he considers his main instrument currently, the bass. He considers the music he plays as “all over the place,” as he has focused on various styles of music at different points in his life and embraced them as part of his repertoire. However, a few influences have stuck out to him, particularly saxophone players Paul Desmond and Dave Brubeck. He also considers George Harrison and Dave Matthews inspirations, with the latter particularly having an influence on his songwriting style and guitar playing.
